Though a bit late, T-Mobile has finally pushed out the Samsung Gravity 2. You can get it today in Metallic Pumpkin (grey and orange) or Berry Mauve (burgundy and pink) for, wait for it, $29.99 on a two-year contract. I have to admit, I was expecting another outrageously high price but I was thankfully wrong; the price is outrageously low! At the time of writing this article, the Gravity 2 is the same price as the original Gravity. Anyone ready to get this 3G lovin' QWERTY?

Note: The Gravity 2 has essentially the exact same software as the Samsung Comeback. I have used the Comeback and let me tell you that the software is very, very nice. The new UI is intuitive, easy to use, extremely pretty and not so boring.

You've got to hand it to the marketing guys though - those names are pretty good.  I love the "Metallic Pumpkin" myself.

Now, will I get one of these?  Nope.

That's a darn good price though.  These are pretty good phones, at least the first one was.  They're good stand-in's for those that don't want to spring for the Sidekick and its plan.

Finally! Friday night I'm taking my mom to choose between the Comeback, Gravity 2 or Behold. (No, she's not a power user!)

The crappy part? Her new phone will be better than my crappy old t409! LOL

well between the Gravity 2 and Comeback, i'd say the gravity 2 only cuz the price is amazing. i like the comebacks form factor more. but the gravity 2 is a lot thinner.

the behold is nice, but completely different then the other 2.

I'm not going to say on here the first thought that comes to my mind.  Wink

Between those for a choice, you've got to push the Behold!  Unless she absolutely needs buttons.  Smile

Say it you chicken! LOL

Yeah, personally I'd prefer the Behold to the other two. The only up on the newer ones is the video messaging, and since she can't even text, I hardly think that will be an issue.

Date night with Mom!  Date night with Mom!  Wink

Well, if she's got issues with texting then she's probably going to be something of a technophobe so steer her far away from the Behold unless you want to be answering questions 12 times a day.  Wink

Hey, my daughter will be there too! LOL

My mom's a huge technophobe. Hard to believe we're related!

But as long as she can find her contact list and press a green button to answer and red to hang up, we're good lol

Well I'm more interested in the 3G antenna. My mother's house exists in a paranormal realm where T-Mobile's signal (along with all other carriers) vanishes from the radio spectrum.

Now, the week I had my G1 and was over there, it WORKED. Even in the basement. I'm hoping the spiffier antenna will help her get a signal, even if they say it's only for mobile broadband, I think it helps a little with reception too, based on my experience.

Do y'all know about the Samsung InstinctQ?  It's a QWERTY Android phone for Sprint.

Heck yeah chaeymaey! I'm hoping that is the sister phone of the Bigfoot. Those rumors are damn old from origin, but you know, it might work out that way.

Jumping back to the earlier discussion, I have to give a big thumbs up to the Behold. I only spent about 10 mins with it, but it's a very nice featurephone. And for someone as tech illiterate as my mother, it's awesome that almost every single step comes up on screen fully spelled out.

I think my mom might be able to figure out how to 3 way call now! lol
